  • You may be eligible to access Medicare-subsidised psychology sessions through a Mental Health Care Plan, which is arranged by your GP. During your appointment, your GP will complete an assessment and discuss whether a Mental Health Care Plan is appropriate for your needs.

If you have an approved Mental Health Care Plan, Medicare provides rebates for a limited number of individual psychology sessions each calendar year. At present, rebates are available for up to 10 individual sessions per year, subject to Medicare eligibility and GP review. Rebates do not apply to non-individual services.

For eligible sessions, a Medicare rebate of $145.25 can be claimed after each appointment. If you’re unsure whether a Mental Health Care Plan is right for you, your GP can provide guidance and discuss the available options.

  • You may be eligible for a rebate through your private health fund. If required an itemised invoice can be provided for your insurer.

  • Please provide at least 48 business hours’ notice if you need to cancel or re-schedule your appointment.

Cancellations within 48 hours of your appointment will incur a $150 fee. NDIS clients are billed at the standard NDIS fee. If you do not attend your scheduled appointment and do not provide notice you will be charged the full session fee.

neurothread psychology will do our best to fill your appointment time, however short-notice cancellations do not often allow enough time to offer the appointment to waitlisted clients.

  • We currently accept referrals from all of the above providers. There is no out of pocket expense when using any of the above funding streams for your psychology appointments.
